Non-negotiable

In 1978, Keith Green produced his hit album, NO COMPROMISE. This song meant that

Christians are called to live their lives following Jesus and obeying His Words, without

compromise. As my wife puts it- her faith in Jesus and His Word is non-negotiable.

In 1985, my wife was pregnant with our third child. Based on some medical

findings, the doctors wanted to run a test to determine if our unborn child had spina

bifida so that my wife could abort the baby if the test came back positive. My wife told the

doctor, “No”, to the test because she was not planning to abort the baby if it had spina

bifida. She said she would love the child no matter what. This is to say, that my wife

and I were not going to play God, and abort a baby just because it might come with

problems. My wife said, this is non-negotiable.

The word 'non-negotiable' means: “not open to discussion or negotiation.” Today,

most denominational churches have become woke and have compromised Biblical truth. For

them, everything is up for discussion and revision. They hold nothing sacred, including

Biblical truth. When denominations hold their annual conventions and vote on various

matters, the majority wins regardless, even when it opposes Biblical truth.

In Acts 5:27-32, the apostles were reminded by the religious leader- the high

priest, “We strictly charged you not to teach in this name (Jesus), yet here you have

filled Jerusalem with your teaching…” The response of the apostles was simply, “We

must obey God rather than men.” For the apostles, their faith and Biblical truth were

non-negotiable, no matter what the cost or outcome.

When people compromise Biblical truth, they become enemies of God. In James

4:3, James the brother of Jesus wrote, “Do you know that friendship with the world is

enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself

an enemy of God.”

It is time to choose whose side you are on- God’s or the world's. If you choose

God, then don’t compromise Biblical truth; there is no room for compromise. Don’t

negotiate. Stand firm. As a bumper sticker I saw many years ago said, “God said it, I

believe it, and that settles it.”
