Does Religion Save You?

“Religion can briefly be defined as a specific belief system about God or gods

expressed through a code of conduct, ethics, forms of worship, and rituals.” - Mary Fairchild

According to most sources, there are approximately 4,000+ different distinct

religions in the world. Of these there are 5 major religions identified. They are:

Christianity 31%, Islam 24%, Hinduism 15%, Buddhism 6.9%, and Judaism .2% (people.HowStuffWorks.com). Most estimate that 85% of the population

identifies with a religious group.

According to the Center for the Study of Global Christianity at Gordon Conwell

Theological Seminary, within the Christian religion alone more than 41,000 different

denominations exist. It is easy to see why many in our world believe there is more than

one way to heaven on their way to a better life after death.

The world is filled with many religious people, but what does that matter? Is a religious person right? I believe the bible is the source of truth, but if your religion doesn't believe the Bible is truth, or if you don't submit to its truth, then what? How many know, believe and

truly submit to the one and only true God who created the universe?

Paul the Apostle was a very religious man, yet until he met Christ personally on

the road to Damacus, his religion was worthless; it even hurt people. This is true today. Unless you have a personal relationship with Jesus, one where you know him personally through His Word, believe in Him with all your heart and live for Him, your religion is worthless.

When Paul wrote to the people in Corinth, he said, “...there is no God but one. For

although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth- as indeed there are many

'gods' and many 'lords'- yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all

things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things

and through whom we exist...” (1 Corinthians 8:4-6, NIV).

Jesus himself said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. NO ONE COMES

TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME...” (John 14:6, NIV, emphasis added).

You may be very religious, but your religion can’t save you or get you into

heaven where the only true God of the universe exists; only Jesus can do that. Don’t let

Satan scam you to believe anything else. Put your faith in Jesus, because He is truly the

only way, truth and life.
